The Purpose of Life and Worship

God's Message is the response to humanity’s search for meaning.  The purpose of creation for all men and women for all times has been one: to know and worship God.

And I did not create the jinn and humankind except to worship Me' [Quran 51:56-58]

This has been a basic message which God has revealed through all prophets, from the time of Adam to the last of the prophets, Muhammad, peace be upon them.  All the prophets sent by God came with the same essential message:

"Indeed, We have sent a messenger to every nation (saying), ‘Worship God and avoid false gods...’" [part 16:36]

People, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, so that you may be mindful of God (Taqwa) [2:21]. Taqwa entails the following:

Treating Parents (and Elders) Well

"Your Lord has commanded that you worship none but Him, and do good to parents. If one or both of them reach old age with you, do not say 'Fie' to them, nor chide them, but speak to them a generous word . . . and say, My Lord, have mercy on them as they brought me up when I was little." (part 17:23-24).

"Mankind is a single nation..." (part 2:213)

"We (Allah) have not sent you (O Muhammad) except as a mercy to the nations." (21:107)

"Speak good words to all people." (part 2:83)

"Allah commands you that . . . when you judge between people (i.e., of any race, religion, family, class, etc.), you judge with justice." (part 4:58)

Needless to say, God is in no need of our worship, it is for the benefit of Humanity and every Soul to worship God for a better life in this world and Hereafter.  If no-one were to worship God, it would not take away from His glory in any way, and if all of mankind were to worship Him, it would not add to His glory.

And Allah knows best
